My research vision is to establish a comprehensive understanding of the profound structural transformations within Kurdish society, particularly at the intersection of political violence (genocide and forced displacement) and rapid modernization.
I aim to analyze how displacement policies and camp environments have reshaped cultural identities, social values, and community dynamics. Ultimately, I strive to produce policy-relevant scholarship that bridges the gap between historical trauma and contemporary social change, contributing to social cohesion, the preservation of collective memory, and sustainable peacebuilding in post-conflict environments.
My research focus lies at the intersection of forced displacement, political violence, and socio-cultural change within Kurdish society. I welcome inquiries from undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in conducting research under my supervision in the following areas:
• Sociology of Migration and Refugees: Focusing on refugee issues, migration trends, and diaspora studies.
• Forced Displacement: Analyzing the distinct dynamics of internal and cross-border displacement caused by conflict, coping mechanisms, and demographic shifts.
• Politics and Religion: Exploring the influence of religion on political trends, including religious and secular movements.
• Genocide Studies: Investigating international crimes, Anfal, and the psychosocial aftermath of genocide.
• Modernization and Social Change: Studying the transition from traditional to modern societies, urbanization, and the structural impact of modernization on social values.
• Identity and Marginalized Groups: Focusing on minorities, national identity, and social stratification.
• Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding: The role of society in rebuilding trust and cohesion post-conflict.
