Biography: I am a lecturer in the Department of English, Faculty of Arts, at Soran University in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. I hold an MA in Contemporary English Literature from Brunel University London and a PhD in Contemporary and Postcolonial English Literature from Soran University. With over ten years of academic experience, I teach courses in English literature, including postcolonial studies, gender studies, literary genres, modernism and postmodernism, literary criticism, and nationalism. My scholarly interests include postcolonial theory, identity, power, nationalism, and interdisciplinary literary analysis. In parallel with his academic career, I have extensive experience in career development, employability, and workforce development within higher education. I founded and served as Director of the Career Development Center at Soran University, where I designed and implemented comprehensive career services, internship programs, and work-readiness initiatives. His work has emphasized curriculum reform, experiential learning, and the integration of 21st-century skills to better align academic programs with labor market demands. I have also held senior leadership and management positions with national and international organisations, most notably IREX. Over several years, I progressed through roles including Program Officer, Senior Program Officer, Program Manager, Senior Manager, and Regional Director. In these capacities, I led workforce readiness and higher education programs across the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, supporting several of public university career centers. I also served as Program Director at Jobs.krd, where i contributed to organizational establishment, strategic planning, and program development. In addition to my academic and NGO experience, I also bring solid private-sector management experience. Earlier in my career, i held managerial and administrative roles with international and local private companies, including working as Camp Manager and Administrator for Global Geophysical Services, a subcontractor to Marathon Oil Company, where he oversaw operations, logistics, personnel coordination, safety protocols, and administrative management in a complex industrial environment. I also worked with Global Geophysical LTD and other private-sector organizations in management, administration, and translation capacities. These roles provided him with hands-on experience in organizational management, cross-cultural communication, compliance, and operational efficiency within multinational and high-pressure work settings. An alumnus of U.S. Department of State–funded exchange programs, i completed intensive career services and workforce development training at Michigan State University. I have actively participated in and presented at local and international conferences, including the Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit in the United States, where i served as a panelist and keynote speaker sharing workforce development and higher education best practices from Iraq and global contexts.
