Biography: Dr. Ako Daraei is a rock mechanics specialist with 18 years of industrial experience. He has served as a consultant, independent reviewer, and site engineer for major civil engineering projects in Iran, Iraq, and Tajikistan. Dr. Daraei has been involved in the design, design review, and construction of over 41 km of tunnels. Additionally, he has conducted geotechnical studies and prepared reports for various infrastructure projects, including specialized bridges, slope stabilizations, and highways. Dr. Daraei has published more than 25 ISI-indexed papers and has been a faculty member at Soran University in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq since 2016. Additionally, he has held several important administrative duties, including serving as a geotechnics consultant in the Ministry of Construction and Housing (Iraqi-Kurdistan), senior consultant in geotechnical affairs in the Behesht mall in Baneh (the largest commercial trading mall in the west of Iran) as well as, designing blasting patterns for transformer caverns, busducts, manifolds, S-shafts, and tunnels in the Rogun dam and powerhouse in Tajikistan (the largest earth dam in the world). He has also acted as a reviewer for 29 international credible journals.
