Biography: I am a geoscientist and lecturer in the Department of Petroleum Geosciences, Faculty of Science, University of Soran. I hold a B.Sc. in Earth Sciences from the University of Salahaddin (Erbil), an M.Sc. in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy from the University of Baghdad, and a Ph.D. in Sedimentology and Stratigraphy from Royal Holloway, University of London. My academic and research interests focus on the Middle–Upper Jurassic stratigraphic successions of northern Iraq, particularly within the Kurdistan Region. I am especially interested in the sequence-stratigraphic development of the Gotnia Basin and its regional geological implications. My research examines the controls on Posidonia- and radiolaria-rich intervals and reconstructs their depositional environments. A major theme of my work is understanding rapid facies transitions, including shifts from open-marine pelagic settings of the Naokelekan Formation to sabkha-dominated environments of the Barsarin Formation. I also develop depositional and conceptual models for Jurassic carbonate and mixed facies systems, contributing to a better understanding of basin evolution and sedimentary processes in northern Iraq.
