Biography: My academic journey began in 2003 when I completed high school and pursued a bachelor's degree in accounting at Salahaddin University in Erbil. I graduated in 2008 as one of the top 10 students in my cohort, earning a permanent government position as an assistant accountant at the College of Basic Education. In this role, I managed various accounting processes and gained practical experience in financial administration. With a strong academic foundation, I was awarded financial sponsorship from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to further my studies. In 2012, I moved to Australia to pursue a Master of Professional Accounting at The University of Newcastle (UoN) – Sydney campus, successfully graduating in 2015. Upon returning to Kurdistan, I completed a Methods of Teaching training course and became an assistant lecturer at Soran University. Concurrently, I taught accounting courses at several private institutions, including the Catholic University in Erbil and Rawanduz Private Technical Institute. My academic career has been complemented by research, leading to multiple publications in the field. In 2020, I relocated to New Zealand to pursue a PhD in accounting at AUT. During this period, I also completed a second master’s degree, a Master of Business (Accounting), graduating with First-Class Honours. My research is driven by a passion for advancing knowledge in sustainability reporting and accountability, particularly in post-conflict regions.
